Coming Around Again is the 13th studio album by the American vocalizer-songwriter Carly Simon, released past Arista Records, on Apr 13, 1987.

It is the kickoff of many albums Simon recorded for Arista. The title track, forth with "Itsy Bitsy Spider", was written for and featured in the 1986 moving-picture show Heartburn. It peaked at No. 18 on the U.s.a. Billboard Hot 100, condign Simon'southward twelfth Top 40 hitting in the United States. Additionally, it was a Pinnacle 10 hit in the United kingdom of great britain and northern ireland. The album itself reached No. 25 in both the United states and the Britain. Information technology was certified Silver past the BPI in September 1987, and Platinum past the RIAA in early on 1988.[2] Information technology has since sold near two million copies in the U.s.a..

Shortly after the anthology's release, a live outdoor concert also entitled Carly Simon – Coming Around Again was recorded in June 1987 on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts for HBO, and later released on video and DVD as Live From Martha'south Vineyard.[3] On a pier in front of an invited audience, Simon and her ring performed eight of the album'due south 11 songs, along with some of her greatest hits. The concert was also released every bit a live anthology in 1988 entitled Greatest Hits Live.

On October 27, 2017, Hot Shot Records released a 30th Anniversary deluxe edition of the album. The two disc set includes vi bonus tracks, including a 12" extended remix of the single "Give Me All Night", and the Oscar winning "Let the River Run", forth with a second disc consisting of Simon's aforementioned Greatest Hits Live album, retitled for this fix as Carly in Concert – Coming Around Again. An in-depth interview with Simon is likewise included in the albums booklet.[4]

Disquisitional reception [edit]

Writing for Rolling Stone, Rob Hoerburger gave a positive review of the album and wrote, "Coming Around Again is a strong reminder of how refreshing a diversion Carly Simon tin can exist".[5]

People was also positive, "Simon remains, even after all this emotional turmoil, mayhap the almost interesting of women pop singers. This album, proves she is nonetheless captivating."[half-dozen]

Stephen Holden, writing for The New York Times, stated, "Coming Effectually Once again, the latest and one of the strongest chapters in a growing catalogue, embodies everything that the 41-twelvemonth-old singer-songwriter does best. Of all the confessional singer-songwriters who emerged out of the 60's counterculture to confide their personal feelings in recorded pop vocal cycles, she has been i of but a scattering to sustain a major label recording career of such duration. And of that handful, she has stayed the closest to the personal confessional mode."[vii]
